Rendering A Modern Farmhouse
A modern farmhouse + home studio rendered for Damien Blumetti Architect. Archicad and Vray 5 for 3ds Max were used to create these images.
I’m proud of this set and feel like I made great progress since my last project towards achieving photographic rendering. The largest change since my last previous pool house project was the addition of LUT and a focus on really understanding VrayDirt.
I purchased assets for both over Black Friday and this was my first time incorporating them into a project. The effects may be a little too heavy handed in a few areas; but I look forward to continuing to refine their usage. Lighting and imperfection are two of the most important keys to photorealism and are not easy to achieve with out of the box settings and assets. One thing I struggled with and will focus on for my next project is Interior lighting and render times. While I think the lighting is pretty solid (no artificial lights were really used), they took too long to render for my deadline and their resolution had to be reduced by 50% in order to reach a passable noise threshold.
Overall, this project was a large step in the right direction and I look forward to refining these new techniques into 2021–and also developing the construction documents for this beautiful home.
I also did some edits in Lightroom for the exteriors that add more contrast versus the more light and airy ones above. Which ones do you prefer? I’m undecided myself.
